Overview

Founded in 2011, The Religion in Society Research Network emerged to reframe the study of religion in a changing world—balancing tradition and transformation.

Since its inception it has partnered with leading universities and cultural institutions around the world to host the International Conference on Religion and Spirituality in Society, Key editions include Arizona State University, Tempe, USA (2013); University of California, Berkeley, USA (2015); Imperial College London, UK (2017); University of Granada, Spain (2019); University of Córdoba, Spain (2022); National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (2023); Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (2024); and Sapienza University of Rome, Italy (2025). Each host institution has shaped the Network’s focus on interreligious dialogue, civic ethics, and the cultural transformations of belief in a changing world.

Under the guidance of Dr. Luis G. Roger-Castillo (University of Jaén and University of Granada, Spain), the Network continues to expand its global and interdisciplinary scope—linking rigorous academic inquiry with inclusive civic dialogue. Its annual conferences, peer-reviewed journal, book imprint, and CGScholar community together sustain an evolving conversation on faith, culture, and coexistence in the twenty-first century.
