Alberto Camplani is A former researcher in Coptology (2000-2005) and Associate professor of History of Christianity (2005-2019), in 2020 Alberto Camplani was appointed as full professor of Early Christian Literature at Sapienza University of Rome. He has devoted his research to the Early Egyptian Church, particularly Athanasius of Alexandria and canonical literature, Syriac Gnosticism and Christianity, and Hermeticism and Gnosis in Coptic language. Former editor of Studi e Materiali di Storia delle Religioni (2009-2012), in 2013 has been appointed as editor of Adamantius.
